Lee is an award-winning television producer and former movie studio owner, who created and funded a decade-long series of 3-hour CBS Primetime Specials for The American Film Institute celebrating the greatest films from the first century of American cinema. The Centennial Celebration of American Movies - 100 Years... 100 Movies series was viewed hundreds of millions of times around the globe and educated audiences on what truly makes a movie one of the 100 best ever made.

While battling advanced throat cancer, Lee was hospitalized and received mostly outstanding treatment but also extraordinarily unkind, insensitive, rude, heartbreaking care, totally lacking in compassion. It killed his will to live and had him seriously considering suicide. Fortunately, a brief but loving interaction with a doctor/pal renewed his will to live and transformed him into a "compassionate care crusader.”
